The Director, Medical Affairs (Facial Aesthetics Portfolio and Bodycontouring) is a key strategic leader in the FAS Strategic Medical Unit. Working under the leadership and guidance of AVP Medical Aesthetics, US Medical Affairs, in partnership with key Medical functional units, the Director, Medical Affairs will support development of a comprehensive medical strategy for the bodycontouring portfolio as well as key assets within the facial aesthetics portfolio. Key deliverables include development and implementation of the U.S. BC strategy and tactics, implementation of the FAS TA strategy and tactics that includes data generation, content creation, in-field scientific communications, in-field MSL portfolio training and synthesis of portfolio insights collected by field MSL teams. The Scientific/Medical Director will be responsible for implementing key aesthetic portfolio strategies that enhance the collaboration between clinical development, medical affairs, and commercial teams. By doing so, this position will ensure that the medical initiatives are not only effectively implemented at the field level but also integrated seamlessly with the broader business strategies. The role requires a dynamic and innovative approach to optimize resource utilization and drive impactful medical communication, both at HQ and in the field. This leader will also be responsible for key parts of MSL in-field training activities on the FAS and BC portfolio. As a crucial member of the Allergan Aesthetics Medical Leadership team, the Director will leverage their expertise to facilitate the development and execution of initiatives that enhance overall aesthetic outcomes and deliver substantial value to stakeholders, ensuring a cohesive execution of the strategic objectives across all FAS and BC medical activities. The Director, Medical Affairs, must conduct their work activities in compliance with all Abbvie internal requirements and with all applicable regional regulatory requirements. Abbvie internal requirements include compliance with ethics, environmental health and safety, financial, human resources, and general business policies, requirements, and objectives.

- Strategic Leadership: Establish and provide overarching strategic direction for the US Field Medical Teams on the BC and aesthetics portfolio in collaboration with the Toxins and Fillers Scientific Directors, ensuring alignment with the business and medical objectives of Allergan Aesthetics. Contributing to planning and execution of medical advisory boards on portfolio use of FAS and BC assets to inform current and future U.S. GAMA FAS strategic decisions
- Collaboration and Integration: Serve as a key member of the Allergan Aesthetics Medical Leadership team. Work in partnership with Toxin & Filler Scientific Directors, Clinical Development, the integrated Brand team, and Commercial Directors to develop and implement strategic field initiatives that support medical objectives.
- Operational Oversight: Coordinate and optimize medical materials, ensuring effective communication and execution of in-field activities. Drive the integration of materials and initiatives that align with the overall medical strategy.
- In- Field MSL Training, Medical and Scientific Input: Offer medical and scientific input into core field medical activities, including fostering healthcare professional and provider interactions, understanding portfolio use of aesthetic assets and generating clinical and scientific data to enhance overall patient benefits and value.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with sales, marketing, and commercial teams to inject strategic medical insights into core brand strategies and support marketing activities such as promotional material generation and product launches.
- Asset Strategy Development Body Contouring: Influence the development of asset strategy, providing specialist medical insights and executing data generation, communication, and expert engagement activities as deliverables to Asset Strategy Teams (ASTs).
- AMI Initiatives- work closely with the AMI curricula team to establish synchronized outputs on FAS portfolio education
- Stakeholder Engagement: Lead and drive external stakeholder interactions with healthcare professionals (HCPs) and national accounts, steering scientific communication initiatives that include internal and external medical education, data dissemination, guidelines, and value proposition articulation.
- Evidence and Communication Strategy: Contribute to comprehensive gap assessments, development of the Scientific Communication Platform, and creation of integrated evidence plans to support launch readiness.
- Relationships: Establish and maintain internal organizational links with the broader R&D, Commercial and other Allergan departments to ensure appropriate support for FAS Therapeutic Area. Establish and maintain relationships with External Experts in Facial Aesthetics to establish a strong scientific presence in the clinical and academic communities. Collaborate with the portfolio MSL team to ensure thought leader development and communication is optimized. Deliver portfolio-related clinical presentations as needed and participate in prioritized scientific congresses. Collect HCP and MSL insights to inform Abbvie/GAMA strategy (e.g. via advisory boards, strategic insights, field insight discussions)
Reporting Structure: This position reports directly to the Head of US Aesthetics Medical Affairs and is a crucial component of the US Allergan Aesthetics leadership team and Integrated Brand Team (IBT).
