About eGenesis
eGenesis is a clinical-stage biotechnology company developing human-compatible engineered organs to address the severe global organ shortage. The Company’s proprietary genome engineering platform enables extensive, multiplex gene edits to remove key biological barriers, add protective human transgenes, and inactivate endogenous retroviruses. EGEN-2784, a genetically engineered porcine kidney, is the Company’s lead program and is currently being evaluated in a multi-patient Expanded Access study at MGH. eGenesis is headquartered in Cambridge, MA.
POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a reliable member to join the eGenesis Farm Operations Team as a Farm Operations Intern and assist in all farm activities including operating large equipment, hay production, landscaping, and basic animal care of swine. To be successful in this internship, you should have experience working with farm equipment. Experience with hand tools and power tools is required. This position requires working a rotating weekend schedule. You will thrive on the Farm Operations Team if you are detail-oriented with strong communication skills and have the ability to work as a team and individually.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Operation of large farm equipment such as skid loaders, tractors, manure management equipment, and hay equipment
Activities involving the above may include but are not limited to carcass management/composting, spreading solid and liquid manure, pasture and lawn mowing, and unloading deliveries
Interest in performing and/or learning preventative maintenance on equipment, animal facilities, and lab facilities, and repairs when needed
Responsible for landscaping and general grounds upkeep, i.e. operation of lawn mower, weedwhacker, leaf blower, and chainsaw
Participate in daily care of pigs at the animal facilities, including cleaning and upkeep of the facility
Follow safe work practices, correct unsafe acts and condition
Adhere to eGenesis biosecurity requirements
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Working knowledge of farm equipment
1+ years of experience in large animal care and handling
Proficiency in MS Office
Time management and the ability to prioritize work
Attention to detail and problem-solving
Excellent communication
Strong organization with the ability to multi-task
Knowledge of swine operations
