Position Summary
We are looking for an experienced GL AP Accounting Consultant. This individual will manage an offshore accounts payable process, day-to-day general ledger accounting, fixed assets, prepaids, and cash and investments. This individual is expected to make contributions to our efforts around financial systems implementation and process enhancements.
This is a hands-on role ideal for a seasoned accounting professional who has solid understanding of GAAP and technical accounting with previous financial close experience and accounts payable in biotech or life sciences industry.
Key ResponsibilitiesOperational AccountingLead the month-end and year-end financial close process, ensuring timely and accurate general ledger reconciliations and journal entriesWorking closely with procurement team to ensure compliance including approvals, GL coding, and disbursements. Work closely with offshore accounting support team. Maintain and reconcile fixed asset schedules, ensuring appropriate capitalization and depreciation policies are followedManage corporate card program Monitor and amortize prepaid expenses, ensuring accuracy and completeness of schedulesOversee cash and investment accounts reconciliation and reporting, including coordination of banking transactions and cash flow forecastingPrepare audit schedules and other financial analytics
Systems & Process EnhancementLead or support the implementation of new procure-to-pay systems or enhancements and strength internal control environmentsIdentify and drive process improvements and automation opportunities across accounting workflowsEnsure systems are configured to support scalable and SOX-compliant processes
OtherCollaborate with FP&A, Procurement, IT and Payroll to ensure cross-functional alignment and efficiency Provide support for external financial audits, tax provision calculation, tax filings, and other regulatory requirementsQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting or related discipline; CPA or equivalent preferred8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including in biotech, pharma, or high-growth life sciencesStrong knowledge of US GAAP and accounting operations, including payables, general ledger, cash, and fixed assetsHands on system experience (NetSuite, Coupa, etc.)Proven experience leading or supporting financial systems implementations (NetSuite, Coupa, Concur, etc.)Experience with SOX compliance and internal controls with a publicly traded company Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with reporting tools (e.g., Netsuite)Strong project management and cross-functional communication skillsDetail oriented and team focused Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment
