The Position

The Head of Product Internal Publishing & Events (Product Manager) is accountable for the entire product lifecycle, from initial ideation and strategic planning through to launch, scaling, and eventual retirement. This role is pivotal in transforming scientific and business needs into tangible, high-value technology solutions. You will be responsible for defining the product vision, strategy, and roadmap, ensuring it aligns with the overarching goals of our organization and ultimately accelerates the delivery of life-changing diagnostics and medicines to patients. This role demands a distinctive combination of scientific inquisitiveness, technical proficiency, and business insight to successfully navigate the landscape.

Your primary objective is to lead engineering and service teams building desirable, feasible, viable, and sustainable products that meet the evolving needs of our internal users while maintaining strict compliance with relevant industry standards.

Description of the area

Workforce Enablement (WE) is the home for employee facing products, services, and experiences within RDT. We deliver digital tools, drive adoption, and provide the support necessary to enable the entire workforce, wherever they are, every single day. 

As part of our global product offerings, the Head of Internal Publishing & Events is responsible for enabling one to many communications within Roche. This team provides highly visible publishing platforms and event services to a small, but demanding set of clients. Successful candidates will bring a mix of experience including product lifecycle, AV technology, consulting and service delivery, along with a high level of diplomacy.

This RDT leader is accountable for the people, budget, product roadmap, and support required to deliver a high quality offering for employees.

Job Responsibilities

  • Strategy & Vision
    Accountable for setting the direction for a product and ensuring that it achieves defined outcomes and financial objectives. Defines product strategy, roadmap, and features aligned with business goals, user needs and organisational policies. Proactively integrate relevant AI capabilities  into the product roadmap. Define, track, and communicate relevant KPIs for the product to measure its performance and contribution to business goals and strategy. 

  • Customer-Centricity
    Actively collect, understand, and prioritize the needs of internal users. Act as the primary owner of the “customer's” problem and be responsible for defining and delivering a solution that provides tangible value. Define and track key metrics related to user satisfaction, engagement, and value delivery, and use this data to inform product iterations.

  • Product Lifecycle Mgmt.
    Own the end-to-end product lifecycle, guide its development, and manage its growth and eventual decline based on market research, customer feedback, and business goals. Manage the product in  compliance with emerging regulations.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration
    Expand collaboration to a broader set of cross-functional teams and be responsible for aligning these teams around the product roadmap. Clearly communicate the product roadmap, timelines, and potential trade-offs to various stakeholders to manage their expectations effectively.

  • Team Leadership & Development
    Align a cross-functional product team around a shared vision and create an environment where everyone can do their best work. Attract, hire, and onboard skilled employees to build a high-performing and collaborative team.

  • Performance & Optimization
    Define success metrics, analyse user behavior, and identify opportunities for optimization to achieve business goals. Translate data into actionable insights and regularly communicate product performance to stakeholders and the wider team.

  • Financial & Resource Mgmt.
    Develop detailed business cases for new products or significant features, including market analysis, revenue projections, and cost estimates. Make data-driven decisions on how to allocate engineering, design, and other resources to maximize impact and achieve product goals.

Qualifications

Education / Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in product management, business analysis, or a similar role, with a proven track record of launching and managing technology products

  • 2+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or regulated healthcare technology industry

  • 1+ years of experience in a leadership role managing multidisciplinary technical teams

Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of the product discovery and development lifecycle. Familiarity with GxP, FAIR data principles, and data privacy regulations (GDPR).

  • Understanding of modern software architecture (e.g., microservices, APIs, cloud platforms). Familiarity with data science and AI/ML concepts is a major plus.

Leadership skills (where applicable)

  • Ability to translate high-level business and scientific goals into a concrete product vision and roadmap.

  • Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to manage expectations and align diverse groups (scientists, engineers, executives) towards a common goal.

  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team and foster a collaborative environment.

Additional Qualifications 

  • Deep expertise in AV (Audio-Visual) technology, live streaming, and virtual/hybrid event platforms.

  • Prior experience managing internal communications or content publishing systems (e.g., Intranet platforms, enterprise video solutions).

  • Demonstrated ability to manage high-visibility, high-stakes service delivery in a corporate environment, often under tight deadlines.

  • Experience operating as a consultant or service provider to demanding senior-level internal clients.

  • Strong diplomatic and negotiation skills essential for managing expectations across technical teams, stakeholders, and high-profile internal clients.
