AbbVie Bioresearch Center in Worcester, MA is seeking an experienced capital project engineer to be part of the Project Engineering group. The selected candidate will be responsible for the management and execution of capital projects involving the construction and/or renovation of biopharmaceutical manufacturing space, R&D laboratories, and office space. Specific responsibilities for the position are as follows:
Responsibilities:
- Acting as Subject Matter Expert for the Project Engineering Group in the areas of renovation, new construction and the installation of facility related equipment.
- Providing overall management of capital projects through the entire project life-cycle including scope management, scheduling, budgeting and coordinating activities interdepartmentally and with contractors.
- Develops scopes, specifications, estimates and standards for facility related projects
- Participate in conceptual and detailed design efforts by identifying scope, gathering user requirements, and providing comment on design packages.
- Oversee the overall implementation schedule for assigned capital projects and take necessary actions to ensure that all assigned capital projects are completed and fully turned over to internal customers within pre-established deadlines.
- Deliver periodic project status reports to all internal project stakeholders (internal customers, engineering and plant management, etc.) according to Abbvie site policies.
- Manage the procurement process and generate purchase requisitions for all project equipment and labor purchases according to relevant Abbvie policies and procedures.
- Oversee mechanical design of all vendor-fabricated equipment, including review and approval of all vendor submittals with internal stakeholders, and preparation/execution of factory and site acceptance testing (FAT / SAT) protocols.
- Review project submittals and RFIs to ensure project aligns with AbbVie corporate specifications and standards as well as industry best practice
- Interact with city inspectors and outside contractors.
- Oversee all on-site contractors for assigned projects. This includes (but is not limited to) scheduling of contractors around production operations, generation of contractor safety permits, oversight of contractor safety while on site, and continuous review / approval of contractor equipment installation during construction.
- Participate in / conduct regular contractor safety evaluations to ensure all appropriate constructions safety requirements are being adhered to
- Support startup of new equipment, including (but not limited to) the execution of commissioning activities, field troubleshooting of newly installed equipment, and field support to site validation staff.
