Position Summary

The Senior Director, Strategy & Operations / Chief of Staff serves as a critical thought partner and strategic operator for the SVP, Cell Therapy Commercial, and plays a central role in driving the performance and culture of the global Cell Therapy Commercial organization. This role will be tasked to develop innovative solutions to simplify and track key events and deliverables across the commercial organization, proactively identify opportunities, and ensure those solutions are incorporated.  This individual will also be responsible for leading a team comprised of Strategy & Operations individuals that will support key operational needs of commercial organization.  This is a high-impact role at the intersection of strategy, execution, leadership, and organizational effectiveness, designed for a commercially experienced leader who thinks ahead, operates with urgency, and earns trust at every level of the enterprise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and motivate a mix of direct and matrix high performance teams to deliver a diverse set of responsibilities.  Must be able to conceptualize and articulate a vision for the team that energizes all functional areas and stakeholders.

  • Support Cell Therapy Commercial Leadership to achieve critical business & key cross functional outcomes through effective processes. Examples may include, but not limited to Executive Encounters, Budget Planning and Business Reviews.

  • Drive the Commercial Cell Therapy Leadership Team's operating model — meeting cadences, decision-making frameworks (including DAI), and cross-functional operating mechanisms across US and international markets

  • Monitor and track the organization's performance against strategic priorities and leadership commitments; flag risks proactively and drive course corrections across global markets

  • Acting as Chief of Staff to the SVP, Cell Therapy Commercial.  This position serves as a trusted advisor, anticipating needs, shaping agendas, and ensuring disciplined follow-through on global priorities.  Additionally, this person will orchestrate internal and external engagement planning to ensure deliverables are seamless and delivered with enterprise maturity

  • Manage preparation for all executive forums as well as organization interface with crisp, storyline-driven materials reflective of both US and WW performance and outlook

  • Lead internal communication strategy for the global Cell Therapy Commercial organization. This includes LT communications, Town Halls, organizational updates, and culture-building activities across geographies.  Ensure messaging is crisp, consistent, and aligned with BMS values, and reflects the urgency and competitive intensity required in global Cell Therapy

  • Drive enterprise and global initiatives including process simplification, organizational engagement, and transformation at the WW Cell Therapy Commercial level

Qualifications & Experience

  • BA/BS required. MBA, PharmD, or other graduate degree strongly preferred

  • 10+ years combined commercial experience across related commercial disciplines such as Marketing, Medical, Commercial Operations, Finance or Management Consulting

  • Achieve organizational focus on key priorities, provides clear direction, delegates, actively communicates and coaches. Able to seek broad input from all appropriate stakeholders regarding key decisions

  • A committed mentor, people developer and team builder. Strong organizational and administrative skills. Possesses a sense of urgency

  • A top class team player. Works effectively in a team-based organization, effectively listens, collaborates cross-functionally, and builds alignment around goals and objectives. Shares, circulates information. Readily builds consensus and achieves agreement on key initiatives and priorities

  • A result oriented individual, with a participative, high-energy style, strong personal work ethic, intense focus on results and a bias toward action. Establishes clear expectations, objectives, and priorities. Diligently monitors progress and proactively addresses variances. Highly decisive and action oriented

  • Deep understanding of US bio-pharma commercial market and dynamics required

  • Strong knowledge of biopharmaceutical industry; possesses a global understanding of end-to-end drug development, manufacturing, and commercialization processes; relevant experience in Cell Therapy is preferable

  • Demonstrated strong ability to combine strategic thinking skills and commercial operational acumen to identify strategic and/or operational opportunities to drive performance for superior results

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and design, manage or implement multiple projects simultaneously

  • Effective communication always. Experience in delivering complex messages to various internal and external customers with a track record of effective and influential presentations

Compensation Overview:

Princeton - NJ - US: $224,910 - $272,538

The starting compensation range(s) for this role are listed above for a full-time employee (FTE) basis. Additional incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility) may be available. The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills, where the job is performed, the employee’s work schedule, job-related knowledge, and experience. Final, individual compensation will be decided based on demonstrated experience.

Paid Time Off

  • US Exempt Employees: flexible time off (unlimited, with manager approval, 11 paid national holidays (not applicable to employees in Phoenix, AZ, Puerto Rico or Rayzebio employees)

  • Phoenix, AZ, Puerto Rico and Rayzebio Exempt, Non-Exempt, Hourly Employees: 160 hours annual paid vacation for new hires with manager approval, 11 national holidays, and 3 optional holidays

Based on eligibility*, additional time off for employees may include unlimited paid sick time, up to 2 paid volunteer days per year, summer hours flexibility, leaves of absence for medical, personal, parental, caregiver, bereavement, and military needs and an annual Global Shutdown between Christmas and New Years Day.

All global employees full and part-time who are actively employed at and paid directly by BMS at the end of the calendar year are eligible to take advantage of the Global Shutdown.

*Eligibility Disclosure: The summer hours program is for United States (U.S.) office-based employees due to the unique nature of their work. Summer hours are generally not available for field sales and manufacturing operations and may also be limited for the capability centers. Employees in remote-by-design or lab-based roles may be eligible for summer hours, depending on the nature of their work, and should discuss eligibility with their manager. Employees covered under a collective bargaining agreement should consult that document to determine if they are eligible. Contractors, leased workers and other service providers are not eligible to participate in the program.
