Senior Global Medical Director, Oncology

We are seeking a senior, strategic medical leader to own the global medical strategy for a lung cancer asset. You will design and deliver medical strategies, evidence generation and scientific engagement across the product lifecycle. As the lead of a cross-functional global medical team, you will work closely with R&D, commercial, regional medical teams and external partners to translate scientific insight into practical impact for patients. Key responsibilities

  • Lead development and implementation of the global medical strategy for a lung cancer asset and integrated evidence strategies.

  • Chair or co‑lead a cross‑functional global medical team to align medical strategy with market needs.

  • Establish and manage trusted partnerships with academic centres, research networks, clinical experts, patient groups and payers to gather insights and shape strategy.

  • Translate external and internal insights into evidence generation plans that inform development, access and medical strategy

  • Partner with research & development to provide medical input into the asset strategy and clinical development plans 

  • Represent GSK externally at scientific meetings and internally as the medical lead for the asset.

  • Ensure scientific quality, governance and compliance for global medical materials and external interactions.

  • Provide line management, mentoring and performance management for Global Medical Directors

Essential qualifications & experience

  • Advanced degree in medicine, pharmacy, life sciences or related field (MD, PharmD, PhD or equivalent).

  • Significant experience (typically 10+ years) in oncology medical affairs, clinical development or related roles within pharma/biotech.

  • Proven experience designing and delivering global medical and evidence generation strategies 

  • Strong track record of scientific engagement with healthcare professionals and academic partners.

  • Experience working in cross-functional, matrixed and global teams.

  • Experience in mentoring or leading small teams and developing talent.

  • Excellent English communication skills with the ability to make complex science clear.

Preferred Qualification
If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
- Deep disease knowledge in lung cancer.

- Experience in late-stage clinical development, phase IIIb/IV studies or real-world evidence programmes.
- Experience managing global congress strategy and scientific communications.
- Experience negotiating and managing external partnerships, budgets and vendors.

- Knowledge of regulatory, legal and compliance considerations across key markets.
