We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Scientist with a strong background and a proven track record in single-cell and spatial genomics, molecular and cell biology. The successful candidate will join our dynamic team at AbbVie Bay Area (South San Francisco, CA), contributing both within the Oncology Translational Research group and in cross-functional R&D teams to support cutting-edge genomic research and mechanism / biomarker discovery for our drug development pipeline.
Responsibilities:
- Independently design, execute, and analyze complex genomic profiling experiments- including single-cell RNA-Seq, CITE-Seq, spatial transcriptomics/proteomics, and long-read sequencing.
- As the primary scientific driver, support preclinical and clinical biomarker discovery, elucidation of drug sensitivity and resistance mechanisms, informing clinical decisions to advance the AbbVie oncology pipeline.
- Proactively identify technical artifacts, interpret quality control results, optimize assay performance, and ensure high quality and reproducible data delivery on timely deadlines.
- Bridge the gap between genomic data and biological insights with strong background in tumor and immune cell biology.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams - including clinical biomarkers, bioinformatics, statistics and pathology to ensure seamless alignment on scientific rationale, data generation and data interpretation workflows.
- Stay at the forefront of the single-cell and spatial genomics field by surveying, evaluating, testing and validating novel scientific methodologies.
- Present work plans and interim QC analyses with clarity and precision to cross-functional stakeholders via formal written reports and verbal updates.
- Work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team in an exciting, fast-paced environment.
