Job Description

AbbVie’s Immunology Discovery Research group is seeking a highly motivated and experienced in vivo and in vitro cellular immunologist to lead development of pharmacodynamic endpoints in non-human primate (NHP) preclinical pharmacology studies. This position offers an opportunity to test and preclinically validate mechanistic and translationally relevant endpoints to support experimental medicine studies as well as gain an understanding of drug MOAs. You will be exposed to AbbVie’s diverse immunology pipeline, and you will have the ability to influence the development strategy of high value programs.    

The candidate will work within an existing, highly matrixed and collaborative team to deliver rigorous and detailed data packages from in vivo pharmacology studies in non-human primates, including ex vivo endpoints. As a Senior II Scientist you will directly conduct benchwork, design in vivo studies, expand upon existing partnerships, and serve as a subject matter expert for non-human primate immunology studies across the R&D organization. You will ultimately be responsible for both identifying innovative, yet feasible opportunities to impact the Immunology portfolio using NHP models and developing a highly functioning team focused on NHP pharmacology.  

Key responsibilities:  

  • Leverage deep non-human primate immunology expertise and current literature to advise project teams 

  • Communicate and coordinate study logistics within the existing team and across other stakeholders in Discovery Immunology. 

  • Coordinate with the team colony and study coordinator and supervisor regarding budget and colony maintenance whole maintaining a high level of productivity 

  • Mentor and coach others while driving innovative science from the bench. 

  • Co-develop fit-for-purpose models to address specific program questions through networking with project relevant leads in the global organization. 

  • Directly develop translational immune-profiling assays. 

  • Establish translational rationale for utilizing primate models. 

  • Establish a tissue repository for rapid test article screening. 

  • Present results at project team meetings and internal/external science meetings.
