Director, USMA Congress & Events Management

The Director of Congress & Events Management implements and executes the plan for USMA prioritized congresses, ensuring compliance with medical, legal, and regulatory standards. This role serves as the main USMA contact for cross-functional teams such as Global Medical, Commercial, Field Medical, Compliance, R&D, and Communications. This role is responsible for leveraging internal Subject-Matter-Experts and external third-party vendors to conduct an optimized resource engine to drive congress operations.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute the annual Medical Affairs congress strategy for assigned meetings, defining focus areas, goals, desired outcomes, and prioritized resourcing. 
  • Develop and maintain congress playbooks, timelines, SOPs, and cross functional planning frameworks to enable repeatable, compliant execution. 
  • Lead end-to-end project management and logistical delivery (booth operations, schedules, speaker engagements, hotel/registration, onsite coordination, preconference briefings) with precision and accountability, scaling appropriately as needed with third party resources.  
  • Partner with Scientific Communications, Publications, Field Medical, brand/TA, and Global teams to coordinate scientific content, data presentations, session preparation, symposia, advisory programs, and harmonized messaging. 
  • Oversee review, approval, and audit ready documentation of all scientific materials and ensure compliance with medical, legal, and regulatory requirements. 
  • Manage external agencies, vendors, and the preferred meetings partner for booth design, logistics, digital engagement, contracting, scope of work, and performance oversight. 
  • Develop and manage congress budgets, track deliverables, and ensure efficient, compliant use of resources. 
  • Lead cross functional congress core teams and serve as the primary USMA point of contact for Global medical, commercial, R&D, compliance, communications, and field medical stakeholders. 
  • Collect and deliver post congress executive summaries, insights reports, and impact dashboards to inform outcomes and future strategy. 

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, health management, or related field 
  • Eight or more years of experience in pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry  
  • Five or more years of experience managing large congresses and complex scientific/medical events using excellent project management skills and comfort with fast paced deadline-driven environments 
  • Ability to travel up to 50%

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ten or more years of experience in Medical Affairs, Congress Management, Scientific Communications, or related roles.
