Our Global Internship Programme in Innovation & Sustainability (#IP2TIS) offers a unique opportunity for passionate individuals to gain hands-on experience in the pharmaceutical industry while making a positive impact on the world.
Are you ready to join a global network spanning 20+ countries, where bright minds collaborate to tackle real-world challenges in Innovation & Sustainability? Do you want to work on impactful projects, shape the future, and drive change from within?
The Position
As an intern, you will contribute to the evolution of the Tomato automation pipeline, a project focused on transforming regulatory eSub package translations for China’s health authority. The project aims to modernize the current translation workflow by replacing legacy engines with advanced APIs, expanding automation across critical regulatory components, and improving review quality with AI-assisted tools. Within your first 3 months, you are expected to help integrate Rosetrans and Deeptrans APIs, support the decommissioning of legacy systems, contribute to quality benchmarking, expand workflow automation for key regulatory documents, and formalize a new AI-assisted review approach. Your work will help reduce translation and review timelines, lower resource costs, and support faster regulatory submissions, ultimately contributing to quicker access to innovation for patients in China. This internship offers a unique opportunity to apply software engineering, automation, and AI to a highly impactful regulatory process in the pharmaceutical industry.
The Opportunity
Integrate Rosetrans and Deeptrans APIs into the Tomato pipeline and support the migration away from legacy translation engines.
Help benchmark the linguistic accuracy and performance of new translation engines against historical data.
Support the automation of key regulatory components such as Annotated Case Report Forms, Chinese Data Review Guides, and Define.xml generation.
Contribute to the connection of the pipeline with Sage to improve data handling and workflow efficiency.
Simplify and automate eSub documentation preparation steps within the end-to-end workflow.
Support the implementation of automation features such as Git commit workflows, webhooks, and chat-based status updates.
Help formalize the updated workflow and document the new review methodology using AI-assisted tools such as NotebookLM.
Collaborate with stakeholders to improve the speed, quality, and sustainability of the translation and review process.
Who You Are
You are enrolled in your Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD studies at a university, preferably in the field of Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or a related field and are interested in applying your knowledge in a modern working environment as part of an internship of 3 months.
Furthermore you are
Proficient in Python or R; experience in Python package development is an advantage.
Knowledgeable in Git, including branching, merging, and conflict resolution.
Familiar with Docker image building and deployment, and interested in automation through tools such as webhooks or chatbots.
Able to work in a structured and solution-oriented way and translate technical tasks into clear documentation.
Fluent in English and comfortable reading technical specifications and writing project documentation.
If you meet most but not all qualifications, we still encourage you to apply.
Additional information
The internship is expected to start between 1 and 16 July 2026 and will last 3 months.
