AIDD (AI for Drug Discovery), part of Roche Computational Sciences Center of Excellence (CS-COE), is applying cutting-edge machine learning to reimagine how biologic drugs are discovered and engineered. Within the Large Molecule Drug Discovery (LMDD) team, we focus on developing next-generation therapeutics, particularly therapeutic antibodies, by combining deep biological expertise with innovative computational methods.
Our team leverages machine learning to analyze extensive sequence data, uncovering valuable insights that drive the creation of potent molecules. We are seeking motivated individuals to join us in this endeavor. If you are enthusiastic about using machine learning for antibody discovery and sequencing data analysis, we encourage you to explore this opportunity.
You will develop methods inspired by language models and unsupervised learning to deliver robust, generalizable solutions.
You will collaborate closely with our team in Basel, New York, and San Francisco.
You are expected to contribute to and drive publications, and present your results at internal and external scientific conferences.
You are an enrolled university student in your PhD programme in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Physics, related technical field.
Good knowledge of machine learning fundamentals. Familiarity with language models, causal representation learning and unsupervised learning. Experience with ML on biological data is desired.
Detailed hands-on experience on building and training neural networks - experience with at least one DL framework (preferably Pytorch), keen to build unconventional models, a knack for getting things to work.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

This internship position is located in Basel, Switzerland, on site.
This is a full-time (40 hours/week) internship for a duration of 6 months.
Please note that maintained enrollment at a university for the full duration of the internship is mandatory.
Due to regulations, non-EU/EFTA citizens must provide a certificate from the university stating that an internship is mandatory as part of the application documents, and must be continuously enrolled in their university program for the whole duration of this internship.
