Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative scientist to join our Immune Cell Depletion Group within the Immunology Discovery Research Immune Tolerance team in Cambridge, MA. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting in vitro immunology research across multiple stages of drug discovery—from early target validation to late-stage candidate optimization.

This individual will contribute to studies aimed at understanding the biology of pathogenic immune cell populations in autoimmune diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and rheumatoid arthritis (RA). The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, independent, and collaborative, with extensive experience in primary human immune cell assays, multi-color flow cytometry, and general immunological techniques as well as in-depth knowledge of cellular depletion modalities.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams to explore therapeutic hypotheses, design and execute experiments, analyze data, innovate and implement new experimental protocols and present findings that directly inform portfolio decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently design and execute experiments and interpret data to validate biological hypotheses and support target identification, validation, and mechanistic studies within the Immune Cell Depletion Group.
  • Isolate and characterize immune cell subsets from human and mouse blood and tissues for downstream analyses.
  • Develop and perform functional assays using cell lines and primary immune cells, including activation, differentiation, immune profiling, and antibody-mediated depletion (ADCC, ADCP, CDC).
  • Apply molecular and cellular biology techniques (e.g., multi-color flow cytometry, qPCR, ELISA, MSD, Western blot) to generate high-quality, reproducible data.
  • Clearly communicate results through internal presentations, team meetings, and written reports.
  • Troubleshoot experimental challenges and apply innovative solutions to advance program objectives.
  • Collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams and contribute to multiple projects simultaneously under tight timelines.
  • Stay current on relevant scientific literature and incorporate new insights into experimental strategies.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant laboratory records and electronic notebooks.
  • Maintain high productivity in the lab (on-site ~90%) with dedicated time (~10%) for study design and documentation.
  • Contribute to publications and external presentations when appropriate.
