We are seeking a Senior Scientist, High Throughput Screening to support our macrocycle discovery efforts. You will join a Series A-stage biotech startup co-founded by Nobel Prize-winning scientist David Baker, where the pace and flexibility of an early-stage company create significant opportunities for impact. You will work closely with a talented team, build a broad range of skills, and help shape Vilya’s culture, strategic direction, and research outcomes.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Independently design, develop, and execute biochemical, biophysical and cell based assays ensuring assay robustness and reproducibility
- Minaturize and optimize assays for screening and SAR.
- Lead high-throughput screening (HTS) campaigns for various drug targets, including automated workflows, to drive preclinical drug discovery
- Collaborate frequently and effectively across biology, chemistry, automation, informatics, compute, and compound management teams to ensure seamless handoff of information and materials
- Analyze and QC experimental results, draw conclusions, and recommend future experiments
- Prepare written reports and presentations summarizing experimental outcomes and project status for peers and leadership
- Clearly communicate data, plans, and progress to the broader Vilya team
- Provide scientific expertise and make recommendations for new assays, screening technologies, instrumentation and improved screening workflows
- Proactively review scientific literature to incorporate new discoveries and technologies into Vilya’s research efforts
- Organize and maintain electronic work records
- Participate in project teams as biology representative and subject matter expert
- Demonstrate adaptability and flexibility in evolving environments and the ability to execute with urgency
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ph.D. or equivalent industry experience in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, or Biochemistry
- Demonstrated leadership experience in an industry role (e.g., project team lead, people management, or program management)
- Experience with drug discovery laboratory techniques
- Hands on industry experience with automation and HTS using a variety of assay technologies
- Familiarity with automated liquid handling (e.g. Biomek i7, Formulatrix Tempest)
- Strong problem solving skills and ability to work collaboratively in a fast paced, team-first environment

Salary Range: $125,000–$164,000/year
