Sr. Research Associate, Molecular Biology (onsite in Quincy, MA)
Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated individual to join our team and expand our Molecular Biology department. Using state-of-the-art technologies and workflows, this Senior Research Associate would work with the Molecular Biology team to ensure project-specific deliverables are met across a diverse panel of discovery campaigns and contract services. The role would involve wet lab experimental design, execution, and data analysis for multiple custom antibody development projects incorporating various molecular biology techniques.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Provide molecular biology support for antibody discovery platforms, including hybridoma and Beacon technologies
- Perform high-throughput PCR-based techniques for gene amplification and sequence analysis using bioinformatics tools such as Geneious Biologics and Geneious Prime
- Conduct antibody engineering workflows, including sequence optimization, humanization, and mutagenesis
- Design DNA constructs for downstream applications including immunization, transient cell surface expression, and recombinant protein expression and purification
- Independently design experimental plans, execute complex workflows, and analyze large-scale datasets
- Concurrently execute multiple antibody discovery projects requiring wet lab activities, data analysis, report generation and preparation of deliverables
- Record and communicate experimental details, draft reports, and deliver data with a high level of integrity and ethics
What You’ll Bring to the Team
- Bachelor's degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related discipline, and 4 - 5 years of related experience, or Master’s degree with 3 years of related experience. Industry experience is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of antibody discovery, preferably familiar with antibody structure and various antibody formats, including antibody fragments, bispecifics, nanobodies, scFvs, and antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs)
- Previous experience utilizing molecular biology techniques including PCR, DNA purification and quantification, NGS, Sanger sequencing, and sequence analysis is required
- Proficient in sequence analysis using platforms such as Geneious Biologics and Geneious Prime
- Experience with primer design, recombinant protein expression, and plasmid construction is preferred
- Experience in antibody engineering, including humanization, mutagenesis, and sequence optimization is preferred
- Ability to effectively troubleshoot and optimize processes in order to meet a wide range of project needs
- Ability to work independently, but also collaborate and effectively communicate within and across departmental teams
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organized, detail oriented, and able to operate in a fast-paced and growing environment
