The Role
Veeva is seeking a talented and motivated Systems Architect to join our dynamic team. As a Systems Architect, you are innately curious, have a penchant for problem-solving and will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of our systems. Our mission is to protect, provide for, and progress the software and systems utilized by our product engineering teams. This role is a blend of strategic planning and hands-on execution, requiring a leader who can both design cutting-edge IT solutions and roll up their sleeves to implement them.

What You'll DoProvide comprehensive architecture plans for multiple cloud-based applications supporting our internal stakeholders across engineering, product support, training and services teamsPartner with stakeholders (business leaders, DevOps, security, infrastructure) to understand application usage, future growth and strategic goalsRecommend specific hardware, software, and methodologies that align with industry best practices, standards, and organizational goalsOversee the implementation and integration of key business systemsAnalyze performance and ensure the applications (GitLab, Jira, Confluence, TestRail, Mattermost), hosted in AWS, meet the scalability and reliability needs of our internal teamsPerform root cause analysis for complex failures and offer modern solutions and toolsEstablish metrics to monitor system performance, proactively identify issues and recommend solutions for optimal performanceIdentify and troubleshoot performance bottlenecks and reliability issues across the stackImplement best practices for cloud-based infrastructure, ensuring security, scalability, and cost efficiencyStay informed about emerging technologies and industry trends including AI to identify opportunities for innovation within enterprise business systemsCreate detailed documentation of systems architecture designs, technical specifications, and implementation plansYou want to make the system better every day and are self-driven to learn all that is necessary to provide full-stack diagnostics and determine the root cause of problemsCommunicate effectively with engineering and infrastructure teams and describe problems succinctly with sufficient detailEngage in real-time communication during outages with both technical and non-technical audiencesRequirementsBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or other similar degree, or equivalent work experience8+ years of working experience as a Systems Architect2+ years GitLab implementation experienceStrong understanding of computer systems, networking, and data storageProven ability to architect scalable solutions across enterprise applicationsExperience with AWS and container orchestration tools (e.g., Kubernetes)Familiarity with infrastructure as code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible) and version control systems (e.g., Git)Independent learner, curious to learn new technologiesExcellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues under pressureExperience with disaster recovery planning and implementationExperience with performance tuning of databases and distributed storage systemsDemonstrated history of incident management and leadership abilityStrong attention to detail, goal orientedCommitment to excellent customer serviceEffective communication skills across all levels — whether talking to individual contributors or executives#LI-Remote
