Location – GSK Spain, Tres Cantos, Madrid

Reports to: VP, Country Medical Director, Spain

You will lead Oncology medical strategy and delivery in Spain, partnering closely with clinical development, safety, commercial teams and global colleagues to shape and execute programs that improve patient care. Success will require clear clinical judgment, collaborative leadership and a relentless focus on patient impact. You will build and sustain a high‑performance medical culture characterized by single‑point accountability, smart risk‑taking and deliberate talent development. Responsibilities include delivering medical performance metrics and capability, driving seamless cross‑functional collaboration, and maximising patient outcomes and organisational impact. We seek an experienced senior medical leader with proven commercial partnership, regional or global strategic experience, governance expertise and strong people‑development skills.

Strategy & leadership

  • Lead the development, implementation and monitoring of the Oncology Medical Affairs strategy for Spain, aligning medical, clinical development and commercial objectives to enable successful launches and patient access.

Evidence generation & clinical development

  • Provide medical ownership for local evidence generation (ISS, RWE, investigator-initiated studies), translate clinical insights into evidence and development plans, and support publications and HTA/payer submissions.

External engagement & scientific exchange

  • Build and maintain trusted scientific relationships with clinicians, investigators, KOLs and patient groups; plan and deliver scientific engagement (congresses, advisory boards, medical education) and represent the company at scientific forums.

Operational delivery & resourcing

  • Ensure country-level resources, capabilities and external partnerships are in place to execute Medical Affairs priorities; oversee delivery of high-quality materials, activities, timelines and budgets.

Governance, compliance & risk

  • Maintain a robust medical governance framework and ensure all activities are compliant, accurate, fair and balanced; act as the medical representative in crisis management and other governance bodies and contribute to local risk management strategies.

Basic Qualifications & Skills

We are seeking a professional with the following required skills and qualifications to help us achieve our goals:

  • Medical degree (MD or equivalent). 
  • Considerable Oncology/ Onco-Hematology experience combining clinical and/or industry roles. 
  • Proven experience in Oncology/ Onco-Hematology Medical Affairs, clinical development, or a closely related pharma/biotech function. 
  • Demonstrated Medical Affairs leadership at country and above‑country (regional/global) levels. 
  • Proven track record leading medical strategy, evidence generation or medical governance at the affiliate/country level. 
  • Experience operating effectively in cross‑functional, matrixed organisations. 
  • People leadership experience, including “leading leaders” or managing senior managers. 
  • Strong external engagement with clinicians, investigators and key opinion leaders. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication in Spanish and English.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

  • Advanced qualification/ specialization in the field of Oncology.
  • Track record in external expert engagement and scientific communications.
  • Experience contributing to product launch planning and medical launch readiness.
  • Experience working with global franchises and aligning local plans to global strategy.
  • Excellent presentation and influencing skills for internal and external audiences.

Spanish Salary Range / Rango salarial en España: EUR 108,750 to EUR 181,250 The annual gross base salary range for new hires in this position is listed above for each applicable location.
