Job Description

Reporting to the Director, Strategic Partnerships & Employee Networks, the Associate Director Global AbbVie Employee Networks role is responsible for developing and mobilizing the enterprise Employee Network (including ERGs and Communities) strategy, initiatives, programs, and partnerships to enable our Employee Networks to deliver best-in-class EEDI outcomes for the business while optimizing for regulatory, cultural and competitive factors. This role will lead strategic development and execution for Employee Networks including governance, metrics, and operational improvements to advance employee engagement and inclusion.

The Associate Director will also partner closely with EEDI leadership and other senior stakeholders to shape and drive employee network strategies including signature programs and enterprise events.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Global AbbVie Employee Networks enterprise strategy, ensuring best in class collaboration and communication practices to develop programming that is strategically aligned to business priorities, culturally resonant, and grounded in measurable outcomes.
  • Advance the enterprise EEDI strategy with a clear roadmap and KPIs to support our long-term EEDI goals for Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) and Communities.
  • Drive awareness, engagement, and visibility of AbbVie Employee Networks through proactive internal communications and reporting — partnering with Network leaders to amplify brand narrative, elevate employee voice, and ensure alignment with corporate and EEDI messaging.
  • Direct the strategic planning and governance of ERG and ERC operating budgets, ensuring resource allocation is aligned with enterprise EEDI priorities and drives measurable impact.
  • Establish and maintain real-time ERG and ERC impact dashboard, tracking engagement, representation, business outcomes, and member sentiment — with quarterly reporting cadences to ERG Executive Sponsors and EEDI Leadership.
  • Proactively benchmark against external ERG and Employee Network best practices, translating insights into actionable strategy updates and annual recommendations to leadership.
  • Design best practice sharing forums for AbbVie Employee Network engagement across the business to include Functional EEDI Councils, Global Philanthropy and other partners.
  • Lead planning and execution of special projects and other key EEDI events, including SynERGy, conferences, and programs.
  • Build and lead an ERG Leader Development Program — spanning onboarding, training, succession, and recognition — to sustain healthy, high-performing leadership pipelines.
  • Monitor the evolving external regulatory and policy environment related to employee networks and inclusion programs, partnering with Legal and Compliance to ensure Employee Networks align with AbbVie's legal obligations and risk framework.
