Job Description

GSK remains committed to achieving bold commercial ambitions for the future. By 2031, we aim to deliver £40 billion in annual sales, leveraging our existing strong performance momentum to significantly increase our positive impact on the health of billions of patients globally. Our Ahead Together strategy is centred on early intervention to prevent and alter the course of disease, thereby protecting people and supporting healthcare systems.

Our diverse portfolio consists of vaccines, specialty medicines, and general medicines.

Through continuous innovation and a dedicated focus on scientific and technical excellence, we strive to develop and launch new, groundbreaking treatments that address critical health challenges.

The Associate Director, Technology Manager leads the design and delivery of digital integration solutions across External Manufacturing (EM), enabling seamless data flow and system interoperability across R&D, Supply Chain, and partner ecosystems.

The role acts as a critical bridge between business and technology, driving digital transformation across CMC/NPI processes and scaling integration capabilities through standardized architecture (DTLS, FIL) and strategic programmes.

Key Responsibilities

1. Digital Integration Delivery

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of integration solutions across manufacturing systems (MES, ERP, QMS and related platforms)

  • Drive implementation of Factory Integration Layer and Product Lifecyle Management tools to enable:

    • Standardized data models and APIs

    • Scalable, reusable integration architecture

  • Manage cross-system dependencies, integration risks, and delivery outcomes across enterprise and external partners

2. CMC / NPI Digital Transformation (External Manufacturing)

  • Translate NPI and technology transfer processes into integrated digital workflows and data flows

  • Enable digital continuity from development through clinical to commercial manufacturing

  • Support scaling of External Manufacturing / CDMO integration through standardized digital interfaces and onboarding models

3. Project & Product Delivery (Agile / Hybrid)

  • Lead delivery using Agile (Scrum) and hybrid methodologies across complex transformation programmes

  • Own backlog prioritization, sprint planning, release management, and delivery governance

  • Ensure creation of key artefacts including:

    • User stories and transformation logic

    • Integration design documentation (system interactions, data flows)

  • Drive outcome-focused delivery, ensuring alignment to business value and ROI

4. Stakeholder & Matrix Leadership

  • Act as primary interface across CMC, MSAT, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, and Regulatory functions

  • Lead cross-functional alignment across R&D, GSC, Digital, Architecture, and external partners (CDMOs)

  • Provide technology business partnering to manufacturing streams (drug substance, drug product, small molecules)

  • Operate effectively in a matrix environment, influencing without authority and leading distributed teams

5. Integration Design & Business Analysis

  • Facilitate workshops to define integration requirements, data mappings, and transformation logic

  • Translate business needs into scalable technical solutions aligned to enterprise architecture strategy

  • Develop future-proof integration designs supporting enterprise transformation initiatives

6. Strategic Programme & Value Delivery

  • Support and contribute to strategic programmes

  • Develop business cases and investment rationale for scaling External Manufacturing digital capabilities

  • Manage RAID logs, risk mitigation plans, and executive (SteerCo) reporting

Key Deliverables

  • End-to-end integration designs (system architecture and data flows)

  • Transformation logic and user story catalogue

  • Agile delivery artefacts (backlogs, sprint plans, release outputs)

  • Stakeholder reporting and governance packs

  • Business cases and scaling strategies for EM digital integration

Core Skills & Capabilities

Technical & Domain Expertise

  • Strong understanding of CMC, NPI, and tech transfer processes

  • Experience with manufacturing systems (MES, ERP, QMS, ELN)

  • Knowledge of integration architecture (APIs, middleware, data layers such as FIL)

  • Familiarity with supply chain and external manufacturing ecosystems

Delivery & Product Skills

  • Agile / Scrum delivery and project management

  • Product mindset: prioritization, road mapping, and value-driven delivery

  • Business analysis and solution design

  • Data modelling, transformation design, and integration documentation

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Stakeholder management across R&D, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and external partners

Strategic & Analytical Thinking

  • Design thinking and problem-solving

  • ROI-driven decision-making and business case development

  • Strategy deployment and digital transformation leadership

Experience & Qualifications

  • Proven experience in digital project delivery within pharma / life sciences

  • Experience working in External Manufacturing / CDMO environments preferred

  • Track record of delivering enterprise integration or transformation programmes

  • Exposure to CMC, MPI, or factory integration initiatives desirable

Success Profile
