The Position

Job description

As a Cloud DevOps Infrastructure Engineer at the SE6 level, you will be responsible for solving unusually complex business problems with innovative DevOps solutions across the entire infrastructure landscape. Possessing deep knowledge of the impact of DevOps practices on business infrastructure, you will make critical technical decisions across multiple product lines with considerable independence. In this role, you will proactively influence technology strategy, mentor teams, and ensure alignment with organizational objectives and regulatory standards.

Description of the area

Job Responsibilities

  • Scope / (Content Leadership): Establishes technical direction to the whole lifecycle of platforms and services—from inception and design through deployment, operation, and retirement. Applies software engineering principles to build and manage large-scale IT infrastructure products and services, abstracting away the complexity of infrastructure to provide self-service tools and APIs for developers. Designs complex CI/CD pipelines, designs and develops self-healing features, and leads Disaster Recovery design and execution plans.

  • Accountability/Problem Solving: Strategically applies advanced problem-solving and decision-making skills to address highly complex issues spanning multiple product lines within a domain. Leads the maintenance of live services by designing metrics to measure availability, latency, and system health, and is responsible for identifying critical metrics used to establish SLIs, SLOs, and SLAs. Proactively plans for IT Infrastructure capacity, performance, and scalability, and leads large initiatives aimed at optimizing inter-related platforms. Accountable for availability, tuning, efficiency, change and configuration management, and emergency response.

  • Stakeholder Management: Demonstrates exceptional customer and delivery focus by proactively leading partnership and collaboration with developers, Managed Services suppliers, and vendors to continuously improve application development velocity and optimize services reliability. Works closely with development teams to ensure new features are rolled out with a strategic understanding of reliability. Provides direction, guidance, and priority setting, acting as a senior analyst to transform customer and developer needs into specific requirements.

  • Impact/Strategy: Ensures implemented solutions comply with Quality/Regulatory standards and is responsible for implementing and updating cost, compliance, and security best practices. Leads complex audit exercises, providing required evidence to audit teams, and leads audit remediation plans. Manages ITSM processes, challenges requirements to scale systems sustainably, and applies innovation to foster business strategy.

  • Complexity/ (Product Size): Demonstrates proven ability to collaborate effectively with diverse virtual teams globally, driving success across multiple product lines within a domain. Leads geo-distributed teams through influence and mentorship, providing specialized guidance to optimize performance and innovation.

  • Business/Technical ability: Utilizes wide experience applying Software Engineering principles, automated testing, and CI/CD tools to define technical computing infrastructure entirely under the control of software with no human intervention. Implements and maintains Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs) and CI/CD pipelines. Applies design thinking, lean, prioritization, and agile methodologies to evolve services.

Qualifications

Education / Experience

  • Proven experience solving unusually complex business problems with innovative DevOps solutions across the entire infrastructure landscape.

  • Proven ability to lead geo-distributed teams through influence and mentorship, optimizing performance and innovation across multiple product lines.

  • Proven experience continuously researching, learning, innovating, and sharing knowledge, with a capacity to apply innovation to foster business strategy.

Technical Skills

  • Deep expertise on designing, implementing, operating infrastructure or designing hybrid multi-cloud solutions in GCP (Google Cloud) Public Cloud Platform.

  • Proven hands-on technical skills in automation (Phyton and Terraform), infrastructure as code (IaC) using Terraform, logging, monitoring, observability (Grafana, Google Cloud native services), infrastructure configuration, and scripting languages.

  • Wide experience applying Software Engineering principles to implement Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs) and CI/CD pipelines. Source code management (GitLab, BitBucket, GitHub).

  • Wide experience working with Infrastructure systems internals, including their availability, administration, capacity, configuration, scalability, performance, and integrations.

  • Wide experience defining Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and Service Level Indicators (SLIs).

Additional Qualifications

  • Exceptional customer and delivery focus, with the ability to act as a senior analyst transforming customer needs into actionable requirements.

  • Strong ability to lead complex audit exercises, manage ITSM processes, and lead Disaster Recovery design and execution plans.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent work experience in information technology environment (networking, infrastructure, database).

  • Certifications on GCP or equivalent working knowledge on Google Cloud.
