About the Job

Sanofi Manufacturing and Supply organization is preparing its future through an ambitious program named Modulus. The Modulus Project is at the cornerstone of Sanofi's strategy, creating a new generation of evolutive, multi-product manufacturing facilities that are modular, adaptable and agile, leveraging disruptive technologies to better address vaccine and Specialty Care Biologics manufacturing needs.

As an Electrical, Controls & Automation Specialist, you will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, performance and compliance of the site's automation and control systems. You will be responsible for optimizing automation platforms, supporting digital manufacturing initiatives, maintaining validated systems, and driving continuous improvements to enhance operational efficiency while ensuring compliance with regulatory and quality standards.

As an Electrical, Controls & Automation Specialist, you will be:

Optimizing and maintaining automation systems

  • Configure, optimize and maintain automation and control systems to ensure reliable, efficient and compliant manufacturing operations.
  • Provide advanced technical support to diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve complex automation system issues, minimizing operational downtime.
  • Lead or support the implementation of new automation technologies, system enhancements and upgrades to existing automation platforms.
  • Monitor system performance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement to enhance equipment reliability and operational efficiency.

Supporting digital manufacturing initiatives

  • Assist in the deployment, configuration and integration of IoT and data collection devices to enable digital manufacturing and data-driven operations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support automation initiatives aligned with Smart Factory and Manufacturing 4.0 strategies.
  • Provide operational feedback to support successful integration of digital technologies and connected manufacturing solutions.

Ensuring compliance and system lifecycle management

  • Ensure automation systems comply with cGMP requirements, data integrity principles and applicable regulatory standards.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date automation documentation, including system configurations, operating procedures, validation documentation and lifecycle records.
  • Support Computer System Validation (CSV) activities throughout the system lifecycle.
  • Support the implementation of automation-related CAPAs, change controls and deviation investigations to ensure ongoing system compliance.

Driving technical governance and operational excellence

  • Determine system configurations and control settings to optimize automation system performance.
  • Lead advanced troubleshooting activities and define appropriate technical resolution strategies for complex automation issues.
  • Maintain compliance documentation and ensure system changes are accurately documented and communicated.
  • Provide technical recommendations for system upgrades and implementation planning based on operational requirements and system performance.
  • Review automation documentation to ensure completeness, accuracy and regulatory compliance.

About You

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience working with DeltaV Distributed Control System (DCS), including system configuration, commissioning, batch programming, testing and operational support.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working within a GMP-regulated pharmaceutical or biotechnology manufacturing environment.
  • Experience managing change controls, deviations, CAPAs and system maintenance within validated manufacturing systems.
  • Experience supporting Computer System Validation (CSV) lifecycle deliverables and data integrity requirements.

Technical & Functional Skills

  • Strong knowledge of DeltaV Distributed Control System (DCS), including system setup, commissioning, batch programming and troubleshooting.
  • Good understanding of automation system lifecycle management within regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of Computer System Validation (CSV), GAMP principles and data integrity requirements.
  • Understanding of industrial automation, process control systems and IoT-enabled manufacturing technologies.
  • Knowledge of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), SCADA, Historian, SAP and related manufacturing automation platforms is advantageous.
  • Good understanding of cGMP requirements and pharmaceutical manufacturing processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex automation issues.
  • Effective communication, stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
