Global Demand Insights Senior Associate (GCF 04)
Function: Global Supply Chain

Reports To: Global Demand Insights Manager, Global Planning
Role Summary
The Senior Associate, Demand Insights supports Amgen's Global Supply Chain organization by generating demand analytics, forecasting insights, and performance indicators that enhance demand signal understanding, improve the consensus forecasting process and inform business decisions that ensure supply while optimizing cost.
This role will report into the Global Demand Insights Manager, within Amgen’s Capability Center with a focus on integrating global product-level forecasts, sales and marketing data with regional and country perspectives to identify trends and support country engagement leads in scenario planning to drive alignment between commercial expectations, supply strategies, and the Integrated Business Planning (IBP) process.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong analytical capability, leverage demand planning systems, statistical forecasting methods, and analytical tools to transform complex data into actionable insights that improve forecast quality, support Integrated Business Planning (IBP), and ensure alignment between commercial expectations and supply chain strategies.
Key Responsibilities
Demand Analytics & Insight Generation
- Analyze global, regional, and country-level sales and forecast data across multiple levels of aggregation (e.g. Global Product, Regional Product, Demand Forecasting Unit)
- Identify trends, variances, and drivers impacting forecast performance, providing actionable insights and recommendations to Country Engagement Leads and Commercial partners to inform the monthly consensus forecasting process.
- Generate recurring and ad hoc analyses to support monthly forecasting and demand review processes.
- Investigate forecast variances and performance drivers, providing recommendations to improve forecast quality.
Forecast Performance Monitoring
- Develop and maintain KPI reporting for forecast accuracy, bias, demand performance, and forecast value-add metrics.
- Monitor forecast performance across multiple levels of aggregation and identify exceptions requiring attention.
- Support root-cause analysis of forecast deviations and demand changes.
- Produce exception reports and insights to support country demand reviews, highlighting key areas for discussion and follow-up action.
Statistical Forecasting & Scenario Analysis
- Apply statistical forecasting methods to generate baselines, monitor performance, and assess accuracy across time horizons
- Run opti/pessi scenario analyses to evaluate potential business risks and opportunities, supporting decision-making within the IBP process.
- Collaborate with Forecast Model Owners and Country Engagement Leads to assess scenario outcomes and recommend actions.
Demand Planning Systems & Data Management
- Maintain data quality and integrity within global demand planning systems.
- Partner with system process owners and IT to enhance system capabilities, analytics automation, and visualization.
- Support integration of advanced analytics and statistical forecasting tools into the end-to-end demand planning process.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to automate reporting, streamline processes, and enhance analytical capabilities.
- Support implementation of advanced analytics, visualization, and forecasting tools.
- Contribute to the evolution of demand insight methodologies and best practices.
- Share knowledge and support capability development across the broader forecasting community.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with Global, Regional, and Country Forecasting, Supply Chain, and Commercial teams to align demand insights with business objectives.
- Provide analytic support and insight generation for global and regional demand review forums.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across GCF, IBP, and Commercial Operations to evolve forecasting capability and maturity.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Supply Chain, Engineering, Data Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
- 2+ years of experience in demand planning, forecasting, supply chain analytics, commercial analytics, or related disciplines.
- Proficiency with global demand planning systems (Anaplan, Kinaxis, SAP or equivalent).
- Experience working with large datasets and performing quantitative analysis.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Good communication skills with the ability to translate analytics into business-relevant narratives for cross-functional stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of statistical forecasting principles and demand planning processes.
- Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar data visualization tools.
- Familiarity with SQL, Python, R, or other analytics tools.
- Understanding of Integrated Business Planning (IBP) processes.
- Experience within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or healthcare industry.
