The Head of Clinical Operations – Germany & Associated Countries is accountable for the execution and delivery of Pharma and Vaccine sponsored human subject research across all therapy areas and development phases within a primary strategic country for GSK, with additional accountability for assigned smaller countries. This position ensures balanced leadership scope, consistent execution, and effective use of senior operational capability aligned to portfolio contribution, complexity, and risk.
Operating within the GMASE (Global Monitoring and Site Engagement) and DevOps operating model, the position translates R&D and therapeutic strategy into predictable, high-quality clinical delivery, ensuring excellence in speed, quality, compliance, and productivity across the defined country scope.
Accountable for execution and delivery of clinical studies across all therapy areas and development phases within the primary country and assigned additional countries.
Provide senior leadership and people management for Clinical Operations teams across the defined country scope.
Translate GSK R&D and GMASE strategy into executable country-level plans aligned to portfolio needs.
Provide clinical monitoring oversight, including oversight of studies executed by strategic partners and CROs.
Maintain understanding of local healthcare environments, regulatory landscapes, and operational realities across the country scope.
Engage and influence internal and external stakeholders to enable successful delivery and a positive operating environment.
Own operational and financial accountability for clinical operations budgets across the primary and assigned countries.
Drive continuous improvement and efficiency through implementation of new processes and best practices.
Ensure quality, risk, and business continuity oversight.
Lead cross-country and cross-regional initiatives and share country insights to inform global planning.
Bachelor’s degree in Scientific discipline.
Minimum of 10 years of pharmaceutical R&D or related industry experience.
Demonstrated leadership experience in regulated clinical operations
Strong knowledge of ICH-GCP and clinical development processes.
Forward-thinking and visionary mindset to modernise approach to clinical processes and leverage technology.
Demonstrated matrix team leadership to deliver results.
Demonstrated cross-functional collaborator with experience in building networks of partners and stakeholders and broadly engaging with expert communities.
Effective communication skills with ability to communicate and influence at all levels of the organization.
Advanced degree in Scientific discipline
Experience leading across multiple countries or heterogeneous environments
Digital and data proficiency
