Job Description:

DePuy Synthes is recruiting for a Medical Affairs Manager, located in Mumbai, India. 

Job Overview 

The Medical Affairs Manager plays a critical role in advancing DePuy Synthes’ clinical and scientific strategy across the local market. This role serves as a key medical and clinical partner to internal teams and external stakeholders, ensuring the safe, effective, and evidence‑based use of orthopedic products. The position offers the opportunity to shape medical strategy, support clinical education, and strengthen scientific engagement with healthcare professionals, while contributing directly to patient outcomes and business growth. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Provide medical and scientific leadership to support DePuy Synthes products across assigned orthopedic franchises in Singapore. 

  • Develop and execute local medical affairs strategies aligned with global and regional clinical plans. 

  • Serve as a trusted clinical expert for healthcare professionals, addressing medical inquiries and supporting evidence‑based product use. 

  • Support clinical studies, investigator‑initiated research, and post‑market surveillance activities in accordance with regulatory and compliance standards. 

  • Partner cross‑functionally with Commercial, Regulatory, Quality, and Market Access teams to ensure consistent medical messaging and compliant activities. 

  • Lead and support medical education initiatives, including advisory boards, training programs, and scientific meetings. 

  • Monitor and communicate relevant clinical data, literature, and competitive insights to internal stakeholders. 

  • Ensure all medical affairs activities comply with company policies, industry codes, and local regulatory requirements. 

 

Qualifications 

Education 

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in a scientific, medical, or healthcare‑related discipline. 

  • Preferred: Advanced degree (Master’s, PhD, PharmD, or MD) in medicine, life sciences, or a related field. 

Experience and Skills 

Required: 

  • Minimum of 68 years of experience in Medical Affairs, Clinical Affairs, or a related role within the medical device or pharmaceutical industry. 

  • Strong understanding of clinical research, evidence generation, and post‑market clinical activities. 

  • Experience engaging with healthcare professionals and key opinion leaders in a compliant manner. 

  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex scientific data into clear, practical insights. 

  • Proven collaboration skills with cross‑functional and regional/global teams. 

  • Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills. 

Preferred: 

  • Experience in orthopedics or musculoskeletal medical devices. 

  • Prior involvement in clinical trials or investigator‑initiated studies. 

  • Familiarity with Singapore and regional Asia‑Pacific healthcare systems and regulations. 

  • Experience supporting medical education programs and scientific congresses. 

  • Ability to contribute to regional or global medical projects. 

Other 

  • Language: Fluency in English required; additional regional languages are an advantage. 

  • Travel: Up to 30%, primarily within Singapore and the Asia‑Pacific region. 

  • Certifications: Relevant clinical or medical affairs certifications preferred but not required. 

Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopaedics business to establish a standalone orthopaedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 18 to 24 months, subject to legal requirements, including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as may be required, regulatory approvals and other customary conditions and approvals. Should you accept this position, it is anticipated that, following conclusion of the transaction, you would be an employee of DePuy Synthes and your employment would be governed by DePuy Synthes employment processes, programs, policies, and benefit plans.
