SENIOR ASSOCIATE TRANSPORTATION SPECIALIST
This role is the primary Transportation representative located in Portugal and requires a high level of independence, ownership, and proactive stakeholder management while working within a geographically distributed team.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
The Senior Associate Transportation Specialist is responsible for ensuring reliable, cost-effective, and GDP-compliant transportation of products to international locations while working closely with logistics partners, Quality, and internal stakeholders across the Amgen network.
As the Transportation representative based in Portugal, you will operate with a high degree of autonomy while remaining closely connected to an international team located across Europe.
The responsibilities of the role include:
Ensure GDP-compliant and cost-effective transportation to international internal and external locations.
Monitor and manage the performance of transportation service providers and logistics partners.
Drive operational transportation performance through KPI monitoring, analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Plan, manage, and optimize distribution lanes using existing transportation solutions.
Identify transportation risks and improvement opportunities and lead or support process enhancements.
Own transportation-related change controls and support implementation activities.
Partner closely with Quality to ensure compliance with GMP/GDP requirements.
Act as a Transportation Subject Matter Expert in cross-functional and international projects.
Support the implementation of cold chain and transportation solutions.
Contribute to the development and maintenance of Good Distribution Practices (GDP).
Build strong working relationships with stakeholders across multiple countries and functions.
Proactively identify, communicate, and resolve transportation issues and risks with limited day-to-day supervision.

WHAT WE EXPECT OF YOU
Experience & Technical Skills
Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, Economics, or a related field.
3+ years of experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain operations.
Good understanding of GDP/GMP requirements within a regulated environment.
Experience managing transportation providers, carriers, or logistics partners.
Strong analytical skills with experience using KPIs to drive operational performance and improvements.
Experience with reporting, root-cause analysis, and process improvement initiatives.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
Fluent English, written and spoken.
