As Senior Manager, QCSE Lean & Automation Lead, you'll play a key role within BMS's Quality Control Science & Engineering function, primarily responsible for identifying and implementing Lean, Opex, and automation opportunities across our commercial Biologics and Small Molecule QC laboratories in Cruiserath. You'll also support Smart QC deployment as primary Scrum Master, as well as other global QC and QCSE projects and initiatives aligned to business priorities.

This is a 12-month Fixed-Term role where your expertise in lean transformation and laboratory automation directly supports the quality and integrity of the medicines we deliver to patients every day.

What You'll Do

  • Partner with QC leaders, analysts, and QCSE peers to identify opportunities to improve QC performance, increase productivity, and reduce operational costs
  • Provide global oversight of lean initiatives and programs at QC sites, tracking progress and delivery and providing updates at the appropriate governance forums
  • Support local QC teams with lean initiative and method improvement implementation, acting as Scrum Master where required
  • Create and manage a database of automation opportunities, partnering with QC, Development, and other teams to generate business cases and ROI assessments, and track automation implementation and benefit realisation
  • Perform external benchmarking to identify areas of opportunity for BMS QC labs in automation and lean performance
  • Drive deployment of Smart QC to the agreed plan, acting as Scrum Master
  • Mentor and coach QC staff on lean methodologies and practices

What You'll Bring

Education

Bachelor's and advanced degree in Science or a pharmaceutical-related field such as Chemistry, Biology, or Chemical Engineering

Experience & Skills

  • 8+ years of experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing quality-related process excellence and leadership roles
  • 5+ years of matrix leadership experience in Quality and Compliance organisations
  • Proficiency in Quality Control and analytical processes and regulations, including cGMP and GDP
  • A thorough understanding of company policies and regulatory requirements in relation to QC processes and documentation
  • Proven experience in lean methodologies with appropriate certification, such as Green Belt, Black Belt, or Six Sigma
  • Experience in automation of QC methodologies and test instrumentation
  • Experience developing and maintaining performance-based dashboards and delivering high performance in a QC laboratory environment
  • Demonstrated experience setting strategies within teams to develop personnel, manage variability in demand, and increase team output while controlling costs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interface with a broad range of stakeholders at all levels
  • Excellent influencing and negotiating capabilities in a matrix environment
  • Ability to build strong, trusting relationships and lead large, complex programmes across diverse business backgrounds and cultures
  • A proactive, change-oriented mindset with a proven ability to simplify complex processes and stretch beyond the expected in a rapidly evolving environment
