The Position

Position: Government & External Affairs Lead

Team: Health System Shaping Lab

Reports to: General Manager

Roche Slovensko is seeking a Government & External Affairs Lead to join the Local Leadership Team (Purpose Enabling Board - PEB). This senior role is responsible for shaping national policy and creating patient access strategies.

The successful candidate will proactively drive changes in the national policy and legislative environment. You will lead strategies to influence key stakeholders, ensuring patient access to our innovations. This position requires strategic thinking, political knowledge, and an entrepreneurial approach to impact the Slovak healthcare system.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Policy Advocacy: Lead targeted efforts to influence public health and pricing legislation to drive systemic improvements for patient access and innovation.

  • Stakeholder Management: Develop and maintain strong, strategic relationships with political stakeholders, decision-makers, and payers at the national level.

  • External Representation: Serve as the primary representative for OneRoche, building alliances with external organizations to enhance reputation and create value.

  • Strategic Alignment: Manage the External Engagement Strategy, ensuring it supports Patient Access goals and integrates across Pharma, Diagnostics, and the wider Roche enterprise.

  • Leadership: Participate in the Purpose Enabling Board (Affiliate Leadership Team), connecting the Health System Shaping group's goals to the affiliate strategy, and guiding the team.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum 5 years in Government & External Affairs (policy/network development). Minimum 7 years of experience in the Slovak Health Care. Minimum 6 months in leadership roles.

  • Expertise:

    Deep understanding of healthcare funding and external conditions impacting the system. Proven ability in strategy development, execution, and navigating complex or uncertain situations (Triple Win concept).

  • Mindset:

    • Systemic & Enabling: Focus on leveraging networks for value creation and scaling.

    • Entrepreneurial: Self-managed, comfortable with risk, committed to continuous learning.

    • Ethical: High integrity and strong alignment with affiliate values.

  • Skills:

    Strategic Thinking (Enterprise Mindset), VACC Leadership, Influencing, Effective Decision Making (in ambiguity), Strategic Agility (managing long-term goals amid change).

  • Education & Language:

    Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Medicine, Law, Health Economics). Fluent in Slovak and proficient in English.

Compensation & Benefits

The expected salary range for this position, based on the primary location of Bratislava Pribinova is 64,900.00 EUR - 120,540.00 EUR. Roche Slovakia provides 13th month Salary. Final compensation will be determined by a number of factors, including your skills, experience, qualifications, and location. In addition to base pay, this role may be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus with a target of 25% subject to both individual and company performance.
